Jacksonville State University
Hey everyone.. I'm Sarah, 21 and about to start JSU in January as a transfer student. More than likely, I'll be moving on campus, and I was just curious if there was anyone in this group that has either lived on campus or is living on campus now (any girls living in Sparkman, in particular, but also feedback from Fitzpatrick or the co-ed dorms is appreciated). I'll be up there on Nov. 7th for a campus tour (didn't get to campus in time for the preview day), and also I'm interested in any feedback about clubs on campus (primarily BCM/any other Christian clubs, and any clubs for education majors). I appreciate it all, and I hope you all have a great week. : )|
hey I use to live in sparkman...Its ok for a dorm, I don;t know much of the other ones. I live in an apartment now which I like cause more privacy. I really have not heard too many people complaining about the dorms.
Wesley foundation is such a great!!!!! christian orginization . The people there are so nice and layed back. Anything goes with these guys...they except all differet beliefs but stay strong on the value of God and living a life for Him. They have different events during the week. Mon. worship, Tues.Bible studies,Thurs. Wesley night(free food) They are involved on campus, like intermeral games. They go on different retreats each semester. I am part of Wesely b/c I felt so welcome there compared to the other christian organizations. There is dorms there and they have a tv room where most the time there is always someone to hangout w/ there. It is exciting to know you are transfering to JSU. I am Amanda and if you want to keep in touch on here I would love that.
Yeah, that'd be awesome to keep in contact with you! Would you mind if I added you? I see you're from Fairhope.. I'm in Daphne now. :) I'm going to Faulkner State Comm. College now, and as much as I love it now, I know I need to move on.
I appreciate your feedback. The apartments would be nice to live in, if I had the money. Maybe my last year or last semester. We'll see.
The Wesley Foundation, huh? I've hard of them, and I've seen them on other campuses (my younger sister goes toAuburn, so I know some of the things they've got there). I'll be sure to check both the Wesley Foundation and BCM out once school starts in January.. I don't want to be a *total* wallflower. I work and commute to school now as it is, so the social life's kinda lagging.
I'm living in an apartment so Sorry I can't help you out on the whole dorm thing. I'm in the math club which is really funny. I'm not a math major but the club is really laid back and we have fun. I think you'll like JSU. Good Luck ;)
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, from what I saw of campus (the littel bit from the parking lot to the football field) it looked really nice. How do you like it?
I came from a really small town so my aspect is a lot different from a lot of other peoples. There's not that much to do compared to bigger cities but there's the dollar theatre, Mall, Cock Diesel, and a couple bars. What classes are you taking?
I'm not sure what I'm taking yet. I missed the preview day where I could pre-register and stuff, so I called and got a tour and advising session for the 7th of November. I know I won't be a junior *sob* because the school I go to now doesn't offer some of the classes I need to fulfill my course requirements. We'll see. : )
I live at Wesley Foundation...the united Methodist Dorm and open to all Christian faiths....every Thursday we have free food night and Monday is worship.... if you want to come visit let me know. Also I'm involved on SGA and anyone can get involved. There are various committees to be involved in. My name is Olivia and if you have any questions you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
This is my 3rd year at JSU...
Also I used to live in Sparkman...Sparkman...ugh....there are people that never leave the porch and are loud....Fitz has some problems, but its not that bad... Sparkman has pluses and bad stuff too...I hope you get placed on the 8th or 9th or the basement. The basement will probably be the quietest. When I lived at Sparkman...the elevator would always break down. The good thing is that they have a microfridge. I know in the co-ed those are nice. The only thing is that you have to pay more. To tell you the truth housing at JSU is just tooo much. When I moved into Sparkman my freshman year in 2003, it was 825 with a roommate. Now it cost 925, i think. When I lived in Logan...I lived there in the summer. I liked it. But anyway living at Wesley...we are a laidback Christian enviroment. While, I do have some friends at BCM, I prefer Wesley. But please do contact me if you do need anything or you need someone to show you around or tell you more about JSU or SGA or anything.
